Some riders in a car came by and tried to fix it but couldn't - it turns out that the rim was split a little in the middle too. I rode the bike with a flat for a couple of miles back to the hangout of these people where a guy that owns a tire shop came and took a look to see what could be done. He tired but couldn't fix it there, so he took me to the nearest town of any size and I spent the night at the hotel around the corner from his shop.
The next morning, a couple of those guys that were helping me showed up with a trailer and brought my bike to the tire place. They took my rim to one of the guy's daughters shop where they specialize in repairing wheels.
While that was happening, I got a Mexican SIM for my backup phone.
They got the wheel back and on 4/25/2025, I think I am back on the road again.
